上海市政府副秘书长、上海世博局局长洪浩告诉新华社记者，截至目前，世博园区由组织者负责的工程已完成95%左右，包括大批永久性场馆、设施和临时展馆建设。随着园区出入口、景观绿化、遮阳喷雾、饮水凳椅、雕塑标牌等收尾工程陆续铺开，世博园区将以“一天一个样”的变化速度，呈现在世人面前。

上海世博会的42个国外自建馆以及几个跨国公司的企业馆，由国外参展方负责建设和推进。目前，42个国外自建馆中已有32个完成土建，进入装修布展阶段，其余10个国外自建馆也排出了计划，积极加快施工进度，总体上处于受控状态;企业馆总体进展较为顺利。

对比往届世博会上往往有一些展馆由于各种原因不能按时开馆的“先例”，上海世博会的此类情况“估计很少”。

洪浩说，我们的目标是所有展馆在世博会开幕时按时开馆。作为组织者，也在尽全力为各参展方按时开馆创造条件。“从目前的情况看，不能按时开馆的比例有望降至最低。”

据上海世博局工程部部长席群峰介绍，目前，世博园区仍云集了约3万名建设者，其中4000人为展馆布展人员。他估计，随着大多数建设项目进入收尾阶段，园区施工人数也将大大减少。

上海世博园区工程建设自2006年8月19日启动以来，取得了引人注目的重大进展。除了约140个新建、改建的场馆外，29条、总长35公里的规划道路已全部建成;贯穿浦东、浦西园区总长6.5公里的高架步道已建成;5.28平方公里的世博园区已种植乔木1.36万棵，其中近万棵种在三大公园内;在看不见的地下，配合水电气配套工程，全长6.6公里的地下共同管沟已铺设到位，两条越江车行隧道以及轨道交通世博专用线已经或即将建成通车。

对于世博会有史以来规模最大的一个园区，上海世博会法国展区总代表若泽·弗雷什认为，园区建设非常高效。他说：“中国工人表现得非常出色、非常富有创造力。”

Xi Qunfeng, head of the engineering department of the bureau said approximately 30,000 construction workers were working at the site, and of them, 4,000 were helping with the exhibition arrangements.

Up to date, 29 roads with a total length of 35 kilometers and 6.5-km-long elevated pedestrian passages have been built inside the Expo site. A total of 13,600 trees have been planted for the site, according to organizers.

Meanwhile, two cross-river vehicle tunnels and special rail lines for the Expo would be open to traffic soon, organizers added.

Jose Freches, France's commissioner general for the 2010 Expo, said construction on the Expo site was highly efficient.
