1. Start off with a clean nail, make sure the surface is nail polish and oil free.第一步：首先在涂指甲油前一定要保证指甲的干净。指甲表面要抛一下光，然后确保指甲上清清爽爽没有油！
2. Apply your base coat or ridge filler. This prevents staining and chipping. Let it dry.第二步：涂上指甲底油或者是指甲修补液打底。这样做可以使得指甲油的颜色不会直接染到指甲上，也可以预防指甲表层脱落破碎。
3. Place a drop of polish at the center of the nail, a bit above the cuticle.第三步：涂一滴指甲油在指甲的指缘前方的中心位置。
4. Carefully push the drop towards the cuticle, leaving just a small gap.第四步：轻轻的将指甲油像指缘内推，留下一点边缘。
5. Now move your brush upwards making a straight line till the end of the nail.第五步：现在把指甲油的刷子向上画出一条直线，直到指甲最外侧。
6. Go back to the base of the nail and swipe the polish along the curve of the nail.第六步：再将刷子回到指缘内侧，沿着指甲的弧线刷指甲油。
7. Keep dragging the polish until the whole side of the nail is covered.第七步：保持以直线涂抹指甲油，直到指甲的半边被指甲油全部覆盖。
8. Repeat step 6, but do this on the other side of the nail.第八步：重复第六步，不过这一次是涂指甲的另一半边。
9. Repeat step 7, but do this on the other side of the nail.第九步：重复第七部，同样是涂抹另一半边。
10. If necessary apply a 2nd or 3rd coat. Finish with a (quick drying) top coat.第十步：如果有必要，可以给指甲图上两三层。最后涂抹上快干的指甲保护液。
TIPS：
If you're not that good at painting your non-dominant hand, start with painting your dominant hand first. You'll be less shaky. Move around the fingers you are painting, instead of moving your brush a lot.如果你不是个涂指甲油的高手，不太会涂左手，或者你是左撇子不太会用右手。那么就先用比较“灵活”的那只手来给另一只手涂。这样就不会过于抖动。涂指甲油的时候要移动手指，而不是用手移动刷子。
