fill其意思为填满,所以通常我们说东西被填满时都会倾向用被动的形式 "be filled with",这也是为何你常会看到fill後面加ed.(以下两个例句皆是被动的用法)

ex:His eyes are filled with tears.(这里便可知道他的眼眶充满泪水.)

ex:When I had read it I was filled with horror.(我读完它之後,心里充满了恐惧.)

当然也可以用主动的形式:

ex:Smoke fills the room.(烟味充斥整个房间.)
