Born in Yate, Gloucestershire, Rowling was working as a researcher and bilingual secretary for Amnesty International when she conceived the idea for the Harry Potter series on a delayed train from Manchester to London in 1990.作者罗琳出生在格洛斯特郡Yate区，曾在1990年做过研究员和国际特赦组织双语秘书，就是那时在一辆由曼彻斯特开往伦敦的晚点火车上，罗琳有了《哈利波特》系列的初步构想。
