在船舶公司做翻译,所需要的外语不外乎以下几种类型：

1.商务型,主要需要掌握上午用语就可以了,船舶方面的资料,可以通过阅读一些船舶类的报纸杂志新闻获得,该工作类型主要用于和外国人的日常接触,沟通,应该算是最简单的一种；

2.规范型,所需要懂得船舶行业的公约规范,最基本的SOLAS,MARPOL,LOLADLINE,TONNAGE,以及相关船级社规范法规性的资料要适当的读一读,该工作类型主要用于接触船东船检,工作内容会涉及到比较深的公约内容,如果不是船舶和法律专业的同学,可能比较吃力；

3.检验型,所需要懂得船舶结构设备的专业术语,例如Frame基本意思是框架的意思,但在船舶方面要翻译成肋骨；有些单词在船舶行业里还是有特定的意思的,可以去船友在线BBS找一些专业词汇的资料背一背就可以了；

船舶英语不必像书面翻译那样正规，能让双方听懂就行。船务方面的知识就是远洋业务需要懂得一些。最好能找本船长业务之类的书看看。（一般船舶院校都有）
